Task

Write a short report/paper on the following topic:

System Identification Using Frequency-Domain LMS (FLMS) Adaptive Filters

Your paper should provide a brief introduction to this topic, explain the underlying theory and/or algorithms for frequency domain adaptive filtering including all relevant mathematical derivations and equations. You should then discuss the system identification problem with particular emphasis on adaptive filtering approach and frequency domain adaptive filters. The example you should solve and discuss in your report is given in the Appendix of this handout. You should not use any ready-made adaptive filtering functions available in Matlab when solving this problem. Instead, you should develop your own Matlab function to perform the adaptive filtering in the frequency domain and discuss the code and algorithm as well as main implementation steps in your report.

Finally, your report should also include detailed discussion of achieved results including comparison with the ordinary, time-domain LMS adaptive filter performance in this application. A short summary and conclusions section should be provided at the end of report. Report should be written in IEEE format and limited to a maximum of six pages including all figures, plots and references. Most important parts of your Matlab code (e.g. FLMS and LMS functions) should be provided as an Appendix to your paper.

You should also provide a full, executable version of your Matlab code (.m file), ready to be run and tested.
