Your assignment is to observe holiday advertising leading into or during Black Friday weekend, which is Thanksgiving weekend (usually begins on the Tues or Wed before Thanksgiving and runs through the Sunday). You may choose a print, radio, online, social media, or TV ad, but you must be able to provide a screenshot, transcript, online clip or video clip of the advertisement.

You are looking for an ad that pushes the ethics envelope, is wildly creative, or particularly effective. It could be an over-the-top offer, a silly ad that parodies something in life, such as politics, holiday family antics or conflict, etc. Or it could be a controversial product, company or pitch person.

You are to provide a summary of the ad in a paragraph form and note WHY you believe this ad is either a PR risk or opportunity for the company.

Hint: Scan social media or Googling some of the ad/companies to see who is buzzing about the ads out there. Often that’s the way to find the story. If you cite the textbook author, note the page or chapter. If you refer to another expert, just provide who that person is and why they are an expert on the topic.
