A for-profit LTAC (Long-Term Acute Care) hospital has been experiencing financial losses over the past three years. Drastic and innovative measures must be introduced to prevent the hospital from closing down. The hospital is struggling to attract admissions, primarily due to a nearby acute care hospital that recently opened its own LTAC facility, resulting in a significant decrease in the hospital's patient census. As a leadership team tasked with saving the business, what strategies can we implement to increase admissions of LTAC-qualified patients from other acute care hospitals in the area? Additionally,what screening strategies can be implemented to prevent discharge barriers. Currently, for patinets ventilator dependant and on dialysis, there are few options to discharge. Also, the hospital is optimizing the labore force to save costs, but this move unfortunatly not helping the quality and increases fall and hospital aquired infections. Tele health is not an option, as we are dealing with only inpatient patients.
