Mrs. Johnson, a 65-year-old, Caucasian female, presents to your office after being driven in by her husband for an emergent visit. The patient is quite alarmed because of red color in her eye. Upon examination you note blood, OD, surrounding the medial, lateral and inferior, aspects of the conjunctiva. Your plan of care for the patient includes: Mrs. Johnson, a 65-year-old, Caucasian female, presents to your office after being driven in by her husband for an emergent visit. The patient is quite alarmed because of red color in her eye. Upon examination you note blood, OD, surrounding the medial, lateral and inferior, aspects of the conjunctiva. Your plan of care for the patient includes: Patient should be given a patch for her eye, bedrest for two days, and return for follow up. Referral to ER for emergent evaluation and possible imaging. No Intervention is needed, reassure the patient and follow up is signs and symptoms worsen. Immediate referral to the local optometrist for urgent evaluation of the pressure in the right eye.
