Listed below there are descriptions of four hypothesis tests, labeled 1-4. And, there are 4 word problems, labeled A-D. Your task in this week's email response is to pair each word problem with the correct hypothesis test.

A. A simple random sample of 75 people are given a new drug that is designed to relieve pain. A second sample of 50 people are given a standard drug. Both groups are asked if the medication relieved their pain. Use the data collected to determine if the proportion of people experiencing pain relief is greater for those taking the new drug.
B. A fleet of 100 taxis is divided into two groups of 50 cars each. One group gets premium unleaded fuel while the other group gets regular unleaded fuel. The total maintenance cost for each vehicle during a one-year period is recorded and the data is used to determine if mean maintenance cost is less for vehicles using premium fuel.
C A simple random sample of 75 people are given two ice packs (A and B) and asked to place one on each knee. The subjects record the amount of time that each ice pack continues to feel cold. Use this data to test the claim that ice pack A stays cold longer than ice pack B.
D. According to a commercial, 4 out of 5 dentist (that's 80% of dentists) recommend a particular toothpaste to their patients. 90 dentists are asked which products, like toothpaste, they recommend to patients and the data is used to test the claim that the commercial is overestimating the dentists support of this product.
