She denies palpitations, tremors and diarrhea, but has noted a weight loss of 4 pounds. Her blood pressure is 120/72, her pulse rate is 92, and her thyroid gland is tender to palpation and enlarged. Thyroid function testing reveals a TSH level less than 0.02 milliunits/L and a free T 4 of 3.0 ng/dL (elevated).
