Assignment -

Choose 2 out of 5 components below - you have to do the following

1. List all the manufacturing processes (all for making the components) for making a prototype.

2. List all the manufacturing processes for mass production.

3. For any one of the components, choose some typical dimensions, estimate the machine requirements and the manufacturing/production rate for the components - draw a schematic of the economics of the production with respect to the production numbers.

Components for design -

  • Aluminum wheel rim for an advanced sports car
  • 25 gallon plastic pail
  • Window frames for houses
  • Bumpers for popular cars
  • Exhaust manifolds.
