Activity - Factors Contributing to Cardiovascular Disease

Answer the three following questions about the two videos in a word processing document.

1. List all the different places where you have lived. For each place what were some of the environmental risk factors that might add to your long term risk of cardiovascular disease?

2. Dr. Ornish argues that "diet and lifestyle" account for the growing obesity epidemic here and around the world. Do you think the spread of the fast food American diet is a bigger risk factor than the environment? Why or why not?

3. Do you think there is an environmental impact associated with the spread of what Dr. Ornish calls the "killer diet"? In other words, can the dietary practices that are increasing our risk of disease also impact the environment (e.g. through production or distribution of food) in such a way as to increase the risk the environment poses to our health? How might this happen? Provide some examples.
