I was thinking about stores and the cost to stay open after having to deal with being robbed and losing inventory that must be replaced to turn a profit, but then I started thinking about human life which can be affected by a lot of different crimes a corporation could commit.

When a crime is committed by an individual, it is likely the company harmed has the money to take them to court, whereas the individual would not have the money to defend themselves and they pay the penalty stopping the crime there.

Larger companies often have political ties that can influence our legal system and sometimes even law enforcement making it unlikely that they would face major consequences (Griffin III, et. al. 2011). Companies are more likely to be able to retain better attorneys or even already have them on staff to negotiate out of trials. Business prosecution seemingly continues to be rare.
