Assignment task

OVERVIEW

The assignment for this module is in two parts:

Part 1: Prepare and present an individual presentation on a chosen construction management related topic. (Presentation should be approx. 6-8mins and approx. 10-12 slides)

Part 2:
Prepare a 2000-word report which contains a reflection on learning development on your chosen construction management topic and include discuss plans for continuous improvement with a personal development plan.

PART 1- Presentation (approx. 6-8mins and approx. 10-12 slides)

Throughout this programme we will be exploring a variety of construction management related topics using a variety of research methods.

Select one construction topic from the list below to form the basis of your report and presentation: Please discuss you selected topic at an introductory level.

• The Impact of Building Information Modelling (BIM)
• Sustainability in the Construction Industry
• Management Approaches used in the Built Environment
• Innovation and Technology in the Construction Industry

Once you have selected your topic create a presentation (using the presentation guide if required) to explain and discuss the construction management topic of your choice by completing the following:

1. Introduce the topic
2. Discuss how the topic impacts the built environment
3. Discuss examples or case studies relating to the topic
4. Highlight future implications relating to the topic
5. Conclude on your findings

PART 2 - REPORT (2000-words)

Upon completion of the presentation slides complete a reflective report.

The report should contain the following:

• A reflection on the learning and development process of your chosen construction management topic. This is to include what you have learnt from the module and why the learning may be important.
• Consider how the learning is going to be of use to you in your future studies and development plans. Highlighting plans for continuous improvement and the impact this will have on your career development.
• A reflection upon completion of the presentation including your feelings about presenting information to peers.

• Complete a personal development plan (PDP) (see template) which focuses on the academic skills from within the module that you want to further develop and improve. The PDP should highlight the following:

Which academic skills you will focus on to further develop? How do you plan to develop the skills?
How will this impact on future modules and studies?
