You have a successful background in leadership training and organizational development consulting. You have just been hired to serve as a leadership training and development consultant for a large Fortune 500 water filtration and services company. The firm is very political, has a lot of hierarchical structure, centralized decision-making, lacks diversity, and operates in functional departments. The organization's leaders have attempted to embrace teamwork, but they usually end in failure. Leaders are seen as being micro-managers, bureaucratic, aggressive toward followers and unwilling to accept feedback. The organization's board of directors has become very concerned and has hired you to create a long-term strategic leadership and development plan. They do not expect for this process to occur overnight, they are open to a long-term, steady approach to the leadership recommendations and changes. You have been asked to come to the next upcoming board meeting to present a plan of action, depicting how you are going to approach the leadership and organizational development initiative within the company and how it can truly benefit the organization. You will present your plan to the entire board of directors along with the senior leadership team. Using the concepts presented throughout the eight weeks of this course, develop a strategic leadership and organizational development plan for the company. Discuss how your plan will improve the organization's overall performance, leadership, communication, employee engagement and contribute to increased performance, job satisfaction, and productivity. Discuss recommendations to the senior leaders on how they can be more effective leaders and get employees engaged. Remember that you are seeking to receive buy-in from the board of directors and senior leadership team, so the content that you provide should be persuasive and concrete. Create a presentation depicting the leadership development plan and recommendations that can be presented to the board of directors and senior leadership team.
