Leadership Power and Influence

As the new Vice-President of Human Resources, you have been asked by the CEO to put together a two-part overview on leadership style as well as different forms of power, so that your company can decide what approach they want to have their leaders take. The first part of the overview needs to include a definition of leadership and needs to examine the task-oriented and people-oriented leadership styles. In particular there should be some analysis on the effectiveness of each style and how each style impacts employees.

The second part of the overview needs to describe five sources of power generally used within organizations with an outline how each can be used to influence the behaviour of others. Provide a definition of the meaning of power as well as some commentary on how each of the different sources of power may apply to the leadership styles outlined in part I.
