Leadership guru Warren Bennis said, “Leadership is the capacity to translate vision into reality.” What does this statement mean to you?

For me, to lead means advancing from one point to another, with the second point offering some degree of enhancement. I see leadership as simply the addition of new elements, people in this case. Strong leaders not only can visual what the second point will look like but also articulate its benefits well enough to influence others to follow. Along the way, a strong leader will guide the group through adversity, solve issues that may arise, and act as an ongoing source for motivation. Once the task at hand has been achieved, the leader's vision has effectively come to fruition. In my opinion, Warren Bennis is simply defining a leader as someone who can add substance and shape to something that had only ever been a thought, developing the skills and abilities of others along the way.
