Case study analysis 1 -First Case Study
1. Case study analysis 1 -First Case Study
The material for this will be available on LMS (Learning Management System). You are required to submit an analysis of issues raised by the case study to be considered in the first small group session (Session 4). A pro-forma will be provided on LMS. The word limit is 1600 words (excluding footnotes).
This assessment is due before the start of the intensive workshop.
One purpose of this assessment is to ensure you are prepared for the workshop and have done the pre-reading; so that you can engage with the more complex issues you will be introduced to. This is why a template is used which has a focus on the identification of issues and main principles. This is reflected in the marking rubric that is at the end of this document. It has less focus on analysis and counter-argument than, for example, the research paper.
2. Case study analysis 2 -Third Case Study (Session 12) (20%)
The material for this will be available on LMS (Learning Management System). You are required to write a memorandum of advice to the board of directors of Sintrad commenting from a legal perspective on the questions in Task 1 and 2 of the third small group session (Session 12). The word limit is 1600 words (excluding footnotes)..
This assignment requires a more developed advice. Accordingly, he marking rubric for this assignment at the end of this document has a greater emphasis on style, structure, understanding and analysis.
For your information, my general marking guide for Assignments 2 and 3 is as follows:
Pass mark (50-59%): Summary of material from elsewhere without much further contribution that indicates student coverage and a working understanding of course subject matter;
Credit (60-69%): A good but not fully developed thought, idea or problem analysis that demonstrates sound student understanding and engagement with the course subject matter;
Distinction (70-79%): A legally sound, substantial and original discussion or analysis that demonstrates student understanding, engagement with and ability to critically evaluate the course subject matter;
High Distinction (80% or above): a substantial thought, idea or problem analysis that is legally sound, has been fully developed and adds a new/valuable/interesting perspective; and/or an overall journal that consists of a number of sound, substantial and original entries.
3 Research Paper
The major assessment for this unit is a research paper on one of the suggested topics. The word limit is 4800 words (excluding footnotes).
The emphasis of this assessment is on a piece of independent research. Key to this is locating relevant resources and then analysing them to produce well-reasoned conclusions. Therefore, the quality of the research and the ensuing analysis are important. For a further description, see the rubric.
This is a piece of academic writing and accordingly accurate academic referencing of source material is required.
Note: Need to be done only first case study 1600 words.
