The Background:

The global rise in the prevalence of childhood obesity over the past 30 years has been described as "one of the most serious public health challenges of the 21st century"(Chowdh Thury and Sarwer, 2021). A survey was carried out in the U.K. and it was found out that there is a high prevalence rate of adults that are obese, and this started when they were children, so obese children are five times more likely to become obese adults. Several factors contributed to these: overweight more in females than males, ethnic minorities, this has a higher prevalence of excess weight that are often found among black children compared to white children and measuring the BMI, that is measuring the height and weight to determine the child's BMI, maternal education and fast food consumption were used to measure the data of the reasons that contributed to child obesity (Garcia et al, 2019).

However, another study in the United States about Hispanic/Latinos shows that they are affected by obesity. The purpose of this study is to know the factors that influenced Hispanic/Latino childhood obesity from the point of view of parents/caregivers, grandparents and children.Several issues emerged from this findings, that is eating habits, cultural perceptions of weight, acculturation, economic factors and generational differences.The major parental challenges was lack of time to provide healthy meals due to socio -economic factors, long work hours and availability of nearby fast food restaurants (Garcia et al,2019).
