You find a microscope at a garage sale for less than the price of a burrito and snap it up! It was manufactured some time before 1970, but it's still functional. You take it home with grand visions of isolating and staining bacteria from around your neighborhood. After properly aligning your microscope for Kohler Illumination, you see that it has an ocular micrometer in the left eyepiece, but you have no idea what the scale is. You decide to borrow a stage micrometer from your last Microbiology lab to calibrate your ocular micrometer.Viewed with the 10X objective, you find that 80 ocular micrometer units span the distance from the first (1st) to the third (3rd) of the large marks on the stage micrometer.
