Web fonts have been a problem because of their lack of availability for a while. When using CSS, you can pick a particular font to use, however if the individual user who visits your site does not have that font downloaded, a substitute font is utilized by the browser. Web fonts is a technology that has emerged as an accepted technique. Web fonts work by declaring that font and embedding it onto your web server. However by placing these on your website server, you are increasing files sizes and in turn decreasing download speeds. Another problem are licensing issues involved with fonts using this method.
