You are the Laboratory Management of a first party laboratory that under an ISO 9001 certified central kitchen. The kitchen supplies prepared foods to a series of chain restaurants in Hong Kong. Your laboratory got only 3 members (including yourself) and mainly conducts biological tests to verify the cleanliness (i.e., total bacteria and mould counts) of the foods prepared. All other testing (such as heavy metals and preservatives) and calibration of equipment (e.g. calibration of thermometers and timers) would be subcontracted to accredited laboratories. You are now establishing a laboratory management system in accordance with ISO/IEC 17025 and would like to apply for accreditation by the Hong Kong Accreditation Service.
1. Prepare the policies of the laboratory according to Clause 8.2 of ISO/IEC 17025 and explain briefly how to transform these policies into objectives.
2. Describe 5 critical clauses/sub-clauses together with an example of evidence that can demonstrate the conformity of your laboratory regarding the use of subcontracting laboratory for testing.
