A pharmaceutical company has tested a Covid19 vaccine in cultured tissue and in laboratory animals with encouraging results. It is ready to be tested in a Phase I clinical trial. Although Dr. Bachmann was the principal investigator of the laboratory studies, the pharmaceutical company wants him to take a secondary role in the trial. The company's leadership says they would prefer a more "seasoned investigator", and they have named the head of Bachmann's department, Dr. Alexander, as principal investigator of the trial. In principle, Dr. Bachmann does not object, but another colleague has tipped him off about Dr. Alexander's stock holdings in the pharmaceutical company, which he has since confirmed.
