Hi there i need to start the assignment for data warehouse where i need to define Assignment You are required to design a dimensional model for analysing sales for Adventure Works Cycles and implement it as cubes using SQL Server Analysis Services. The AdventureWorks OLTP sample database is the data source for you BI analysis. Description of the AdventureWorks databases is available at https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms124659(v=sql.100) There are six parts in this assignment. Parts A to D together should be at most 4 pages, and Part E should be at most 2 pages. Document in at least size 10 fonts, and the diagram for part D must be readable. Part A: Business requirements (20 marks). Discuss the background and objectives of your BI project. Clearly explain the subject areas for your analysis and the data source tables in the OLTP system. Part B: Key facts (20 marks). Explain the key facts to achieve the objectives of your analysis. You must include at least two key facts relating to sales, and one of them must be Internet Sales. Elaborate on the granularity for the facts. Part C: Dimensions (20 marks). Describe the dimensions for analysing the key facts as laid out in Part B. Include at least the Time and Customer dimensions. Especially you must discuss ? The hierarchy for each dimension ? Discuss if there are any conformed dimensions, and then explain the reasons why there are or are not conformed dimensions. Part D: Multidimensional Schema (20 marks). You must present your complete design of multidimensional database design as a Star schema or Snowflake schema as shown in (Ponniah, 2010). Part E: Implementation (20 marks). Document your implementation of multidimensional cubes using SQL Server Analysis services. You must load your data cubes with source data tables in the AdventureWorks OLTP database, as identified in part A. Your implementation should include precisely the dimensions and facts as described in Parts A to D. Your documentation should include screenshots from SQL Server Analysis Services. Part F. Demonstration (hurdle). You must demonstrate your implementation of cubes using SQL Server Analysis Services in your tute/lab class in Week 7, including ? The dimension hierarchies. ? Cube definition. ? The ETL process of moving data from data sources to cubes.
