KingMaxis a tire shop located in the community of New-grounds close to the main road. The business opened about two years ago and is going strong. It repairs tyres for all sorts of vehicles. It also sells new and used tyres, oil, brake pads, oil filters, airfilters, and parts that are demanded by motorist on a regular basis. The business employs about ten persons who are quite busy during the peak hours of the day.
The operations manager, who is a graduate of the University of the West Indies, makes a number of decisions which are critical to the success of the business. Also, he has to work closely with the other functional areas of the business to ensure that the customer receive a good quality product.
Most of the workers are quite productive but clearly, there is room for improvement. There is the need to reduce the waiting time for the customers since a large percentage of them are involved in public transportation.
Competition in this type of business is very intense. A number of competitors operate in the area and they are implementing a number of strategies and innovative ideas to improve their level of competitiveness. KingMax will have to find ways to compete effectively in order to remain in business.
