A 50-year-old FedEx truck driver Jake suffered a stroke while driving his truck in Northern Alabama. The stroke damaged the cerebrum area in the brain. Jake is an avid smoker, loves fast food but exercises regularly and has no major health problems. After he returned home from a lengthy stay at the hospital, he still suffers from significant left-side weakness and slurred speech.

Why are the symptoms isolated mainly to the left side of his body? Be specific! What kind of rehabilitation plan would benefit Jake?
