VINLAND SAGA EPISODES ANIME

1. Thors is illustrated rowing opposite five men on the ship and he is rowing with a giant oar.

This is apparantly meant to indicate that he has supernatural strength, or at the very least the strength of many men. This depiction of Thors is an obvious exaggeration, but what point does it serve? Is this just "anime" at large here? The answer is, no! Vikings have a strong oral history. Characters like Beowulf, Thor, Loki (all from Viking mythology) are known for their tremendous abilities (both physical and mental). The writers of this anime deliberately include these moments to reflect authentic Viking history and storytelling.
