Elder Electronics are a fairly new company in Central Scotland. The company has seen rapid expansion since its launch some two years ago. The company currently employs 150 members of staff. The Human Resource department is very well structured and organised in order to cater for legislative requirements as well as support the employees of the business.

Next month, an administration assistant will join the team, having previously worked within the sales centre of the Head Office. This means that she must be trained in some of the basic functions of the HR role. The main content of the training will be recruitment and selection. You should compile a portfolio of questions and answers, examples of documentation and diagrams for this new assistant which will be useful for her to refer to.

Vacancy - Senior administration assistant

The example documentation should be based on the above vacancy. It would be beneficial for the successful candidate to have three years experience in an administration setting. It would also be helpful to have previous supervisory experience. The role involves supervision of a team of five administration staff. The office has a lot of communication with suppliers in Spain and China where a number of suppliers are based.

The role involves the daily running of the office which includes delegating the workload, organising breaks, preparing reports, answering telephone enquiries, checking e-mail enquiries, processing orders, placing orders, liaising with other departments as well as many other general administration tasks.

A number of skills are key to this role. They include time management, communication skills, organisational skills, presentation skills, and many others.
