Assignment:

The board is seeking an assessment of the Practice Billing Function. At present, the practice manages billing internally through its in-house department comprised of practice employees. The board aims to evaluate the viability of transitioning to an external, independent billing service.

1. Compare/contrast the functions/process of a practice billing system vs. an outsourced billing service.

2. Compare the in-house processes to that of an outsourced billing service. How are they different? What parts are similar? Develop two high level flow charts.

3. Describe the usual financial arrangements/contractual terms in working with an outsourced billing service.

4. What are the key points (financial and non-financial) in the feasibility study which will be used to determine if a change should be made? Be specific. Determine what your recommendation will be.
