1. Begin with an introduction. Explain. What is it? Is it controversial? What is the background or history? What are the pros and cons, costs and benefits, or opposing positions concerning? Who is benefited? Who is harmed?
2. Identify the key leaders of and the key opponents or detractors. Have either of the major political parties come out in support of or opposition to [your topic]? If not, speculate on what the party position might be given their party platform or other indicators. Do any celebrities publicly contribute their face and/or fame and/or fortune to or to its opposition? If so, whom? How long have they been involved? What visible support do they give?
3. What kind of funding does get? Public, private, donations, individual? Follow the money, especially Big Money, such as corporations, industries, lobbyists, and wealthy private citizens. Again, think about who or what is benefited? Who or what is harmed?
4. Does [your topic] use social media to engage its followers, such as Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, etc.? If so, sign up to follow them during this project and include a summary of their social media activity in your report.
5. Has [your topic] been featured on TV programs or in movies, and if so, by which channels and when? Was this representation positive or negative concerning? As part of this assignment, find and view a sample of these or other videos which may be included as one or two of your required minimum 12 "works cited" and as a segment in your oral presentation (not to exceed 5 minutes of your oral presentation).
