For this assignment, you will put yourself into the role of observer and take detailed notes as you watch a video of children practicing their writing with whiteboards and dry-erase markers. After completing your observation notes, you will use the writing prompts provided in the directions document linked below to consider the key developmental and behavioral milestones you observed and to evaluate how you could use the information gained from your observation to guide your teaching and accommodate the skills of the children going forward.

As we learned, a focused observation takes place when the observer modifies the environment so that a child can be observed performing an expected behavior or action. For this assignment, put yourself in the role of the observer.
Then, click on the link below to watch a short, focused observation of preschoolers (estimated to be between 4- and 5 years old). You will see the children using whiteboards and dry-erase markers to practice the skill of writing their names. Pay close attention to the girl in the blue shirt and the boy in the red shirt. While you watch the video take detailed notes to record your observations.

After completing your observation notes, consider the key developmental and behavioral milestones you observed. Evaluate how you could use the information gained from your observation to guide your teaching and accommodate the skills of the two different children going forward.
Complete a written summary, approximately 250 to 500 words in length, in which you address the following in your own words:
- Detail your overall observations - note what you saw and heard as you watched the children writing on the whiteboards and any conclusions you drew.
- Describe any developmental and/or behavioral milestones that you observed.
- Explain how you would use the information from the observation to guide your future teaching in order to develop each of the children's skills.
- Include specific examples of activities that would accommodate the learning needs of each of the children.
