Why is it relavent? "Kearns-Sayre syndrome (KSS) is a rare condition that affects the eyes and other parts of the body, like the heart. It's caused by a problem with the DNA of mitochondria, which are like your body's energy factories. Kearns-Sayre syndrome affects both genders. It is caused by changes in the genes in the mitochondria that can occur during pregnancy. This genetic disorder may be inherited from the mother or may occur without a family history. Testing can determine if the mutation was inherited or not."
