Question

We discussed performance evaluations and how to review your own Master Brief Sheet (MBS). This class has helped me a lot with reviewing my MBS and learning how the Junior Enlisted Performance Evaluation System works (JEPES). The past 3 years and 11 months as a Sergeant I have been with small units such as, an I&I with no subordinates, and now this duty station with a total of 4 staff members that are Sergeants and above, and Recovering Service Members (RSMS) that range from Chief Warrant Officers to Lance Corporals. Due to these duty stations, I was unable to write any JEPES occasions for any junior Marines or Corporals. Unfortunately, while you are a RSM you won't rate a JEPES occasion. Your evaluations are essentially frozen during your time at Wounded Warrior Battalion although Marines are still able to be promoted. Sergeants and above receive non-observed FITREPS and only input a standardized billet description that all RSMs receive when they check in. My next unit will be an IPAC where I will have Marines under me that will rate JEPES occasions. Due to my lack of experience of filling out JEPES.
