Jean-Pascal Vaillancourt and Anastasia Pagonis are Canadians who work as business development managers for Nestle, the world's largest, most diversified food and beverages company. As part of a high-potential employee development program, both were recently selected to take up an expatriate assignment in Japan. Jean-Pascal is an artistic and flexible person who always likes to try new things. He tends to be unsure about his views, and often relies on others for information and validation. The fact that his supervisors chose him for the high-potential program reassured some of the many doubts that he had about himself. Anastasia is a conventional person, who finds comfort in traditions. She is a resilient person, who trusts her own view on things, and doesn't get flustered by ambiguity. She thought her supervisor chose her for the international assignment so that she would be forced to try something new, which wasn't her natural inclination.
Compare and contrast how easy it will be for Jean-Pascal and Anastasia to adapt to the culture in Japan based on how their personality traits will fit with the cultural value dimensions typical in Japan. In your answer, be sure to state who will adapt more easily and to explain the ease of adaptation for both Jean-Pascal and Anastasia with respect to two (2) personality traits and their connections with two (2) cultural value dimensions discovered in Hofstede's study. Make sure you identify the personality traits and pertinent value dimensions. Use information from the case to support your analysis and make sure you include the word count for your answer.
