Assessment Task Instructions -

Core Task: You work for ABC Investments Plc. as an investment advisor. You must write a report for a client explaining how best to invest their £5 million capital for growth and income. You must describe and explain how financial instruments, markets and financial institutions work as well as the risks involved to the capital.

Structure: Sections to be completed, as follows:

Section 1: Introduction - 100 words maximum, introducing the types of investments to be considered and outlining the purpose of the report;

Section 2: Financial Instruments - max 150 words - this section should describe and explain what they are and how they work;

Section 3: Financial Markets - max 150 words - this section should describe and explain what they are and how they work;

Section 4: Financial Institutions - max 150 words - this section should describe and explain what they are and how they work;

Section 5: Risks to Capital- max 150 words-- this section should describe and explain what the risks are and how they can be managed;

Section 6: Conclusion - max 100 word

Section 7: Reference list (not included in the word count)

Theory and/or task resources required for the assessment: You must conduct secondary research for this assessment finding relevant sources independently, in addition to the resources listed in your module handbook.

Your report must demonstrate your understanding of the theory of finance studied in Introduction to Finance and Financial System and Understanding and Representing Data.

Assessment reference style: You should refer to a minimum of 7 relevant sources for your report. Minimum 2 sources should be printed texts. Please refer to your module handbook for a list of useful resources.

You are expected to write between 700 to 800 words and you must include a Harvard style reference list at the end of your report.
