Assessment item - SDLC & ITSM
TASK - Overview - This assessment consists of two questions. The first one looks into SDLC and the second question looks at ITSM.
Question 1: SDLC and ITSM
(a) "Agile is not a methodology, it isn't a specific way of developing software"- do you agree or disagree with this statement? Provide justifications to support your argument.
(b) Your company is going to develop a web-based adoptability assessor tool for the SoilCRC, a research centre for Australia's underperforming soils. As a project manager, you have identified the following characteristics of the project:
- The project is large
- Releases are required to be frequent
- Creation of a prototype is applicable
- Risk and costs evaluation is important
- Medium to high-risk projects
- Requirements are unclear and complex
- Changes may require at any time
- Long term project commitment may not be feasible due to changes in economic priorities

Question 2: ITSM
(a) You have started your new job as director of IT Services for a long-established company called "SuperSail" that designs and manufactures home-built sailboat kits. The company prides itself on the quality of their training, documentation and support provided to home boat builders. SuperSail previously outsourced their ITSM needs but have decided to build an in-house ITSM organisation. You have been hired because of your strong skills in ITSM Best Practices. Characterise at least four ITSM processes that you feel are important to focus on as you commence your new job. Describe the processes.
(b) Discuss how COVID-19 has impacted ITSM. Is there any change or opportunities?
