Discussion Questions
Question 1. Conduct a skills inventory assessment for those in your group. How prepared are you for IT jobs of the future? Give examples.
Question 2. Use the SFIA framework (see: 05 activity 1 sfia v5.xls) to categorise and determine the appropriate levels of responsibility for the skills inventory you developed in Q1.
Question 3. Locate an IT job advertisement. Include details of why this job appeals to you, and an outline of any particular technical and soft skills required.
Question 4. How stringent are you in accepting social networking connections (e.g. LinkedIn)? How do you determine whom you do, and do not connect with?
Question 5. Create a linked in profile (if you don't already have one). Write a compelling summary section. Consider: What do I want people to remember about me? What are my passions? How am I different than those with similar backgrounds? How can I make my summary more compelling so that people are intrigued about getting to know me more?
Certifications
Question 6. Compile a list of certifications offered by professional IT organisations. Include the organisation name, certification and certification description. Compare the certifications, which would you recommend IT professionals undertake and why?Make a list of those you plan to undertake?
