Question - You are the head of a research team and the team is conducting a study on an online taxi service provider. Your study has been funded by the service provider and aims to provide insights about the behavior of taxi drivers. In order to conduct the study, the team has decided to use a mix of observation and the interview methods for collecting the data.

In this regard, it has been decided that researchers will be using the taxi services one hundred and twenty times in a span of fifteen days. It is estimated that on average, researchers will spend 30 minutes with the taxi driver each time they book the taxi service. Hence, the researchers will be able to have at-least 50 contact hours with the drivers. During these 50 contact hours, researchers will be collecting the data through a mix of observation and interview methods.

However, in order to avoid potential biases due to impression management of drivers; it is decided to collect the data without having informed the drivers that their behavior is being observed and the conversations with them are being transcribed.

Furthermore, you as the head of the research team are required to certify that the research meets the ethical standards. Is there any ethical issue in the above research methodology? What will happen if you try to resolve the ethical issue (if there is any)? How should you proceed with this research?
