Data were collected that included information on the number of first-grade students in different sections who are present in one week and the number of tests in that week.

The figure shows a scatterplot with the regression line.

a. Is the trend positive or negative? What does that mean?

b. Now calculate the correlation between the number of present students and the number of tests in that week. (Use R-Sq from the figure and take the square root of it.)
