Assignment:

Notably, since 2015, over two hundred symbols of the Confederacy have permanently been removed with the promise that more will be displaced or demolished in the coming days, weeks, months, and/or years. How do you feel about that fact? Is the removal of Confederate memorials and statues "destroying" history (or, arguably, denying history as former Confederates wished for everyone to know it)? Due to their longevity, are these memorials and statues now artifacts of history, themselves, regardless of what they might represent and, therefore, deserve to be preserved? And, will their possible removal help heal old wounds stemming from the days of slavery?
