Overview

Throughout the class you will work on a series of assignments that focus on the organizational culture for one specific non-profit organization. To complete this series of assignments, students are asked to identify one specific non-profit organization (i.e. church, non-profit ministry, para-church organization) and to utilize the same organization for all three assignments.

The three specific assignments that will utilize the same non-profit organization are:

A. Organizational Culture: Overview Assignment
B. Organizational Culture: Assessment Assignment
C. Organizational Culture: Action Plans Assignment

Instructions

The first step in the Organizational Culture assignments was to provide a general overview of the organization using the "Three Levels of Culture" identified by Edgar Schein.

As the second step in the Organizational Culture assignments, you are asked to assess the organization's culture. Some of the guiding considerations throughout this assessment should relate to the health of the organization as seen through the three levels of culture. Please note that actions steps should not be included in this individual assignment.

The suggested outline (with corresponding questions to consider) for this assignment (Organizational Culture Assessment Assignment) is the following:

A. Introduction (no more than½ page)

B. Assessment of Organization's Artifacts (1 page)

I. Questions to consider:

1. Are there descrepancies between what the organization claims and what is the reality within the organization?

2. Do the artifacts of the organization align with a biblical worldview, explain?

C. Assessment of Organization's Espoused Beliefs and Values (1 page)

1. Do the espoused beliefs and values of the organization align with the behaviors and artifacts of the organization?

2. Do the espoused beliefs and values of the organization align with a biblical worldview, explain?

D. Assessment of Organization's Basic Underlying Assumptions (1 page)

I. Questions to consider:

1. Is the organization aware of its basic underlying assumptions?

2. Are the basic underlying assumptions of the organization accurate?

E. Conclusion (no more than ½ page)
