The average time for all light rail rides from ASU in Tempe to the Downtown Phoenix campus is 31.8 minutes with a standard deviation of 6. University officials want to replace the light rail with hot-air balloons believing it will take less time and eliminate any delays due to station stops. A random sample of 100 trips from the same location by hot-air balloon is 29.5 minutes. Is the hot-air balloon significantly shorter than light rail? How can you tell?
