Assignment:
My topic is maternal health care access in rural Nepal.
Statistics and issues from your chosen country
Introduce your location by providing statistics and background on the region (e.g., population size, economy, recent socioeconomic or political history that may influence health).
You should provide global statistics on the health topic you chose (prevalence, DALYs, etc.), as well as location-specific statistics on the health issue (e.g., the prevalence, DALYs, costs, etc. of maternal morbidity and mortality globally, and the prevalence)
- Summarize at least 3 studies that show work/research being conducted in your specified location on the health topic (Use Google Scholar, PubMed, or another academic search engine to find peer-reviewed articles)
- Briefly summarize each article: include what the aims of the article/study are; what methods were used; what did the authors find and conclude; you must include in-text citations, and references for the articles. The articles must be summarized.
- Try to find at least one that discusses policies or programs directed at alleviating the health burden in your chosen region (e.g., taxation on sugary foods in the Pacific, implementation of universal healthcare, etc.
- Try to find at least one that discusses interventions that are currently being run in the region to address the health topic.
Now that you've conducted research, what are your conclusions about the health topic in your chosen region: Is it a problem, is it getting worse, is it improving? Is the health issue expected to change/worsen/improve? What are the factors needed for it to improve?
Recommendations: Based on your research, what types of programs do you propose to improve the health topic in your region? How would your program improve things? What are potential limitations/barriers for implementing this program? How do you think these barriers could be reduced/mitigated?
