In a state that imposed a maximum speed limit of 65 m.p.h. by statute, a truck driver was going 75 m.p.h. on a stretch of highway when a car pulled in front of her. The truck driver was unable to stop in time and hit the car, pushing it into the next lane where it was struck by a bus traveling the speed limit. The collision with the bus caused serious injury to the driver of the car. In an action against the truck driver for negligence, uncontroverted evidence was introduced that, even if the truck driver had been going 65 m.p.h., she would have struck the car and pushed it into the path of the bus.
