6. A little story....
When I was in the army we had a little buck sergeant by the name of Hernandez. Meanest little son-of-a-gun you would ever want to meet. Even shot the firebase dog in one of his fits.
But when it came to going beyond the wire, everyone wanted to go with Hernandez, because he brought us back, usually in one piece. We also had a new 2nd Lieutenant straight from the point. Knew all there was about leadership and tactics.
When we had to go into the jungle with him, the fear level was high, but like it or not, he was the "leader." So there you are. One leader was trusted, and one was not...but they were both leaders and we had to follow them beyond the wire. So is trust necessary for a leader?
