Assignment:

You may be asking how I, as an experimental psychologist, could view James as the "father of modern psychology," especially when we read that he was a fan of Freud. Do you agree that he is an important figure in the history of psychology? Is this because or in spite of his reliance on phenomenology? Is it possible to have a scientific phenomenology? Consider the influences on James such as Kant, Aristotle, Descartes, Darwin, Fechner, Wundt and Freud and then consider the huge influence James had on subsequent psychologists through his teaching at Harvard. Is William James your favorite psychologist? Or is there someone else?
