You've probably heard the news. Our conservative Supreme Court recently overturned decades of precedent, and ruled that colleges and universities may no longer consider race in making admissions decisions. You can read about it here:

What do you think? This doesn't technically apply to business hiring, but it may represent the future of diversity in the workplace. Is having a diverse student body important? If two applicants are equal, but one has a racial background that's missing from the student body, is it beneficial to let that person's race be the deciding factor? Isn't it the same with gender - if two applicants are equal but there's a huge imbalance of men over women, shouldn't the college be able to choose the underreprsented gender to give balance to the student body? Can we really pretend that somehow we're "blind" to race if the result is having a student body that doesn't have racial diversity? Are the same issues applicable to the workplace?
