Question 1: Is climate change happening? Give at least 3 reasons to back up your argument. Please site if it's taken from somewhere
Question 2: Reply to two of your classmates' posts in a substantive manner.
Post 1: Climate change is happening according to the research of several thousand scientist over the past 100 years. An example of climate change was documented at the observatory on top of the Mauna Loa volcano in Hawaii, this observatory measured a 0.5 increase of CO2 levels per year beginning at 315 ppm in 1958 to 410 ppm in 2018 (Cunningham) Another example of climate change is the rising temperatures of the planet. In the past 40 years the temperature has risen about 2.12 degrees Fahrenheit with 2016 and 2020 being the hottest year on record (NASA) One last example of the climate changing is the warming of the ocean. Since 1969 the top 100 meters of the ocean have increased by about 0.6 degrees Fahrenheit (NASA).

Post 2: Although there has been a long history of debates regarding the topic, there is an abundance of evidence that climate change is happening. One of the most telling pieces of evidence is the direct relationship between carbon dioxide levels and temperature. By recording these two variables for more than sixty years, scientists have been able to get a clear picture of the long term relationship that shows that the steady increase in carbon dioxide emissions has had a direct effect on temperature. By using past and present temperature and emissions data, scientists have also been able to show that the Earth is headed toward having an unusual temperature rise as a result of human activity that will create a domino effect of negative repercussions. This data also ties into the threat of rising sea levels, which is a direct effect of climate change. There is a lot of other evidence that proves that climate change is happening, but these are just three obvious and well supported examples.
