Kenneth Armstrong, an American citizen, purchased the co m ponent parts of computers in Germany, Japan, and the United States. He took those parts to Bolivia, where he constructed the computers, stamped them with the name Starlight Computers, and sold them. Armstrong had a Bolivian registr a tion that allowed him to use the trade name Starlight.
Although none of the computers were imported into the United States by Armstrong himself, many of the counterfeit computers eventually found their way into the U.S. marketplace. Starlight Computers, Inc., an American corporation, brought a lawsuit against Armstrong in United States District Court under the Lanham Act.
Armstrong moved for a dismissal of the case, arguing that the American court did not have the authority to enforce the Lanham Act against his Bolivian operation. Is Arm strong correct? Explain.
