For this assignment, you will create an original group or team model that brings together key concepts and methods to successfully facilitate groups and teams within your area of specialization. You should select an issue or problem that you would like to explore in depth. You may wish to use a case with which you are familiar. The case you select should relate to your specialization.
Some case study suggestions include:
A real-life case example to study from your current practice that involves the use of groups or teams.
A case study found through researching the Internet or the course resources.
A case study you create based on your interests in using groups or teams in your practice. You might consider one of the following case study settings:
Psychotherapy group for a particular issue.
Sports performance team-building activity.
Team-building activity requested for a particular team issue (for example, a school or a business).
Senior leadership team facilitation (for example, a school, a business, or a community setting).
Organizational change initiative (for example, a school, a business, or a community setting).
After you identify a specific case study for your project focus, you will do the following:
Identify and briefly describe two existing group or team psychological models or theories pertinent to your case study focus.
Explore the key concepts and methods related to the selected theories.
Assess the theories based on their usefulness and evidence base and the psychological underpinnings of each theory as related to group behavior.
Provide an evaluation of each of the theories as it relates to your case study.
Synthesize, based upon your evaluation of the theories, the effective key concepts and best aspects of the methods related to each theory.
Provide a set of guidelines for how you would intervene in this group or team case study. Discuss how these guidelines integrate the best aspects of each theory. Include in the guidelines insights on group development.
Provide a few paragraphs that identify both ethical and cultural issues related to the use of this intervention with this group or team and state how you would maintain good ethics.
Use the following order when creating your team model:
Cover page.
Table of contents.
Abstract.
Introduction.
Team model content (12-15 pages).
Conclusion.
Resources.
Include a minimum of six primary peer-reviewed sources, using as many as required to thoroughly address the requirements.
