"Involvement in Diabetes Self-Management Education (DSME) is linked with increased regularity of various self-management behaviors (SMB) and clinical care factors in standard care. This population-based study found that those who participated in DSME were significantly more likely to engage in foot self-examinations (FSE), maintain a diabetes health passport and diary, carry out self-monitoring of blood glucose (SMBG), and adhere to a dietary plan compared to those who never participated in DSME. The study also suggests that DSME participants are more likely to undergo regular preventive or monitoring checks, such as HbA1c tests, retinopathy screenings, and foot care by a medical professional, compared to those who never participated in DSME.
