A researcher is investigating the effects of a new drug on the ability of rats to learn to navigate a maze. She is worried that differences in activity levels might influence the results, so she gives them a baseline activity test and matches them to form eight pairs. One group is then given the drug and the other group a placebo. Here are the results in terms of number of trials it took each pair to navigate the maze without any errors.
