Assessment Task - Case Study: Real Estate RTO

Real Estate RTO is a renowned Real Este Agency located in Brisbane. To company operates with the help of small basic computer network housing 30 Desktops computers. The company have recently replaced the old computers with new HP ELITEONE 17'' i5 7th generation, Windows 10, All in One with Touch Screen computers, while the other infrastructure is still the same as the time it was setup years earlier with Cat 5 cable used as a medium of transmission. The company network also consists of the two access points which are used for the staff of the real estate RTO and the visitors visiting the company office. A Toshiba Universal Printer is connected to the network which is shared by the staff at the office. The Dell PowerEdge servers with Windows Server 2019,have been used as the file servers and is used for storing large about of Real Estate Videos and files which are being constantly accessed by the team members who are continuously downloading the videos, often creating a heavy network traffic. Time and again staffs also do access the network using the laptops, tablets, and mobile phone.

The general network component that forms the part of the network are the Routers, switches, hubs, splitters and VOIP Phones. The software generally in use are Xero for accounting, Skype, Norton Antivirus, Zoom and other software's as per the need of the individual team member needs. The company also subscribed to medium bandwidth internet service and VOIP for communication.

Also, the physical organization of the network is not up the standards and number of hazardous materials lying around and no proper guidelines in place regarding use of the resources in the facility.

As the management and team members are usually busy dealing with regular business areas, a very little attention has given at the management of the network infrastructure, as a result the performance of the network is not up to the standards. Especially the speed of the data transmission is also very slow.

Lately the management team has realised the issue and has decided to upgrade the network with the latest technology and decided to contract with the specialist company to investigate the problems with the current network and make necessary update to the existing infrastructure so that the required level of performance efficiency can be achieved. The company is considering Implementation of the optical fibre cable to boost the network performance.
