Assignment -
In the United States, childhood obesity numbers are shockingly high. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), around 20% of children in the US are obese and this has number has grown around 33% since 2000. This is alarming, since obesity has been linked to the progression of several diseases in both children and adults.
Although obesity results from a person consuming more energy (calories) than needed on a regular basis, there are many contributing factors including genetics, metabolism, and lifestyle behaviors. Please review some background information on obesity and childhood obesity at CDC.gov (use the search feature on the site). Once you have a background, find a reputable source (do not use wikipedia or a blog) and post a 1 to 2 paragraph (may be longer if you need) discussing childhood obesity. In your discussion address some of these questions (or you may pose new questions to address): What are some of the specific dangers of childhood obesity? What factors that contribute do you think have possible solutions or fixes? What role (if any) do you think the government should play in combating childhood obesity? What do you think are some possible solutions to help the problem?
Support all of your opinions with facts from your source(s). Do not just copy and paste data from your source. Read through, and then paraphrase what you read. This post should mostly consist of YOUR ideas and thoughts, with a few facts from your source put in to support your points. Do not just write definitions and facts from the source here. Cite your source at the end of your post.
200 words only.

Your complete submission should include 1) your summary and opinion (500 to 750 words--keep it concise); 2) a copy of the original research article that you used or a link to the article.
